Kiki Creates made us the most gorgeous ruffles to add to ordinary cards! You can either sew them or hot glue them on! I cannot wait to add these little cuties to my cards!

Top Five Tuesday!

This month has been one of the busiest of my life! I started working for my Aunt Tanis in her cake shop and May is the busiest month of the year for cakes! I would not have guessed that, but it is! We worked our little fannies off last week to make 16 wedding cakes, 30 misc cakes (graduation, groom's cakes, birthday, baby shower, etc), 340 cupcakes & 80 petit fours!!! Did I make you tired just reading that?! :) I hope your May is slightly less crazy but with school ending I doubt it is!

1) How fabulous is this wreath from Something Created Everyday? I want to make one! Love it. 

2) I looooove these tiered pie tins! Crafting Chicks made them but did a guest post featuring them on MaryJanes and Galoshes. There are so many great uses for these!

 

3) I love how simple this next project is from Crap I've Made! She took a frame from Hobby Lobby and made a 

super cute monogram! I saw the frames at Hobby

 Lobby last week and they were on sale and on 

an end-cap, they had a ton of cute ones! 

4) Centsational Girl made a project I've been dying to make! Thankfully she made it first and gave a tutorial which 

makes my job so much easier :) Her knock off ballard's 

drying rack is phenomenal and dare I say I like 

her's more than the original? 

5) I love those big drink tubs that you see everywhere but I have never bought one. Now after seeing what Every Creative Endeavor did to one, I need one! What a great flower pot!

One Month to Win It - Week Two Project Reveal

Mason Jar Display

I love making things no little or no money! This weeks theme was perfect! I made something I've wanted for awhile, a mason jar display! It was so very easy to make and looks great on the wall with candles and flowers. Really, the options for what you put in the mason jars are endless. You could use it to store art supplies, craft supplies, shells from the beach, etc. You really get the bang for your buck with this craft! 


How I made it...


1) I took a 2x4 and painted it
2) After paint was dry, I beat the heck out of it with different things, like a hammer, sander, etc to make it look old
3) I held a mason jar up and marked the sides with a pencil to see where to drill holes
4) Drilled 6 total holes for wire
5) Luckily my grandpa already had rusty wire so I didn't have to make it look old :) I took it and threaded it through the holes while holding the mason jars on the wood. 
6) Once both ends of the wire were through the holes, I twisted the wire in the back just like you see when your kid gets a new toy (picture the back of the toy box with all the twist ties) 
7) Then you decorate! You could use the mason jars to hold sand and shells or crayons and colored pencils, etc!

Free Prints Wednesday!

Maryberry Boutique made this adorable and hilarious free print that I think most of us can relate to :) She made 4 different color options as well! 

The Swell Life made this gorgeous "Over the Rainbow" print!

Eighteen 25 made a "filler print" for all our empty frames in between holidays. And it comes in tons of color options!

Top Five Tuesday!

So you may have noticed that I renamed "Love this Tuesday" to "Top Five Tuesday". It's really the same thing just with a different name :) And this week's Top 5 is going to blow you away! It might be the best ever!

#1) I always make my nephew's teacher gifts at the end of the year and I cannot wait to make this one!!! Brown Paper Packages always blows me away!

#2) I just found some shutters on the side of the road and I have been trying to decide what to do with them. Two Friends, Two Cities, One Vision made this out of their old shutters! Love it!

#3) I love buying old cabinet doors but I have NEVER thought to do this with one! iCandy Handmade is super creative to turn her old cabinet doors into art desks! See the amazing tutorial over at Ucreate. 

#4) Just Drink A Coke is not only a great blog but it has the best name ever! Miranda just revealed her bedroom makeover which is fabulous! My favorite part is her headboard....

#5) Serendipity Chic Design made this Laundry Sign out of an old vintage ironing board, I want one! Seriously amazing!

One Month To Win It - Week One Project Reveal

Thank you so much for voting for my project! I made it to week 2 and I'm so excited! Now that the voting for this week is over, I can share my project!

I loved this week's theme of "Preserving a Memory". When I first found out I was chosen and what the first theme was, my mind literally went BLANK. I couldn't think of a single memory I had ever had! I had crafter's block and I had it bad. I decided to leave my house and go visit my sister before I completely lost my mind. On the way to her house I started thinking about a family tree of some sort on wood. Then we went to an antique store because that's where my mind is happiest! There I found beautiful old windows and my crafter's block vanished. Yes, this was exactly what I needed to preserve my memory!  But instead of a family tree, it became a date tree for my husband and I. It's filled will all the important dates we've had so far and we have more leaves and limbs that we can add on for future dates. 

Here's how I made it. 

#1) I painted the opposite side of the window pane a beautiful blue gray. I did two coats, kept them imperfect so that you could see subtle brush strokes and light through the window pane. 

#2) I measured the window pane to see how large to make my vinyl tree. I found the center and marked it using a dry erase marker. 

#3) I designed the tree on SCAL and used my "baby bug" Cricut to cut it out. That's right ladies, I used the 6x12 inch Cricut to cut this huge tree out! It can be done! Just in sections. It really didn't take very long. 

#4) I added very very tiny dates and words to the branches, for example "First Kiss June 5, 2001" The hardest part of the  project was this step. Because the letters and numbers were so small, they were pretty hard to cut out and place on the glass but it was worth it!

I am thrilled with how it turned out and how easy it was! It's something I will keep forever and can't wait to add more dates to it!
